Welcome to Wisconsin! Nicknamed “America’s Dairyland,” for being the leader of cheese, Wisconsin was first settled by Ho-Chunk, Dakota, and Ojibwe, it was later settled by British, Germans, Scandinavians, Polish, Hispanic, Asians and Amish. There are plenty of backroads to ride and enjoy with scenic lakes, deep-wooded forests, rolling farmland and of course, cows.

- Ashland Breakwater Lighthouse - Chequamegon Bay: Built in 1913. Can be seen pretty much from any coastline in Ashland.

- Green Technology at Northland College in Ashland Wind towers and solar panels flank the buildings and grassy native plantings fringe the lawns. An electric maintenance vehicle motors silently across campus without gasoline, while 300 gallons of food scraps are churning into compost for the community garden. They also employ a myriad of low-key sustainable features across campus like low-flow appliances, SmartWood, and other low-impact supplies. - Scheer’s Lumberjack Shows and Village Experience the history and athletic ability of the lumberjack as they demonstrate and compete in a variety of events. - Mocassin Bar You’ve got to see it to believe it! Home of the World’s largest mounted Musky, and four dioramas of Northwood animals. Downtown Hayward.
- Giant Cowboy Guy about 18-20 ft tall. He used to sell tires at the local gas station and has been moved all throughout town in the past few years. What is a 30 foot cowboy doing in the North Woods? This hombre in tight blue jeans sports a big white Stetson on his disproportionately large skull and silently guards Bulik’s Amusement Center go-kart track and water park north of Spooner WI.
- Spooner Bake Shoppe We continue the tradition by making all our homemade delicacies by hand, from the freshest ingredients possible. They have over 100 varieties of bread, Danish pastries, coffee cakes, homemade soups and sandwiches, soft serve ice cream. Located at 217 Walnut St since 1952.
- Friendship Gardens Rice Lake International Friendship Association in conjunction with Miharu, Japan dedicated the garden on August 8, 1998. Located adjacent to the south side of the UW-Barron County campus library, the garden encompasses about 35’ by 40’ of land holding over 400 plants and trees surrounded by a bamboo fence.
- Museum of Wood Carving It is the largest collection of woodcarvings in the world created by one man — 100 life-sized carvings and 400 miniatures. Barta spent 15 years crafting his series of religious scenes in ponderosa and sugar pine 2x4s laminated together. Highway 63, Shell Lake, WI
